Role: Artist

Evenscape is an artwork that was featured on billboard across Leeds, commissioned by Arts Council Collection. This commission was part of the exhibition Found Cities, Lost Objects, curated by Lubaina Himid CBE and exhibited at Leeds Art Gallery.

Evensacpe recontextualised female public sculpture through pattrns of place, rooting identity in motifs of locality. Originally existing for a merely decorative purpose, this pieces turns the sculpture Even (located at City Square in Leeds since the early 1900s and designed by Alfred Drury) into a prominent emblem of the city by relciaming Leeds’ urban landscape that she calls home.

A new horizon for the city is imagined, drawn from Even and the surrounding textures from the fabric of the city, through the use of film photography and digital collage.

Evenscape was on display across the following locations in Leeds for the month of April 2024:

  • Hyde Park Corner
  • Corner of Midland Road and Balm Road, Hunslet
  • Wellington Street
