The Voice of the Museum

Year: 2018
Role: Curator

The Voice of the Museum is an online resource that provided an alternative, multi-lingual audio guide around the ground floor of the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow.

In playing with the often anonymous role between curator and museum interpretation, this audio guide highlights the often brushed over narrative of the institution’s (and Glasgow’s) history of links to the Transatlantic Trade of Enslaved Africans.

This guide also encourages the listener to engage with the space around them, in a chatty, approachable and playful manner.

With thanks to Tiffany Boyle, Katie Bruce, Martin Craig, Chloe Morris and Studio Seventeen. A special thanks to the translators: Camille Belveze, Julia Psilitelis and Elena Zaccagnini.
